The till needs two things from the network: a way out to Yusker, and a way to the printers. Nothing else. No port has to be opened from the outside.

  • Internet: any ordinary connection. The till talks to api.yusker.com over HTTPS, the same as a browser. A guest Wi-Fi with a captive portal will not do; put the till on the staff network.
  • Printers: each printer needs an address on the same network as the till, on port 9100. Give every printer a fixed address in the router (a DHCP reservation for its MAC address), or the address changes one morning and the kitchen goes quiet. Type that address under Printers and tap Test.
  • Guest Wi-Fi: keep it on a separate network from the tills and printers. A guest's phone must never be able to reach port 9100.
  • When the link drops: the till keeps ringing, printing kitchen tickets and taking cash; the strip under the header says so, and everything catches up when the link returns. Yusker Pay by QR needs the link. yusker.com/status says whether the problem is at Yusker or on your network.
  • Two screens: the guest display uses a second monitor on the till's own graphics output; no network is involved.

The till does not need a static address itself. The printers do.
